Designing new schools is an action that looks to the future—perhaps even the long-term future—helping to shape what education in our country will be like in the coming decades. Yet it is a process that inevitably begins in the present, with an understanding of the needs of people and communities, both educational and territorial, to be integrated into a forward-looking vision of the relationship between teaching and architecture, one that takes shape in new, effective, and functional learning environments.The opportunity offered by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan opens the door to a widespread renewal of school buildings, unprecedented in recent Italian experience: thousands of students will benefit from the interventions concerning schools foreseen in the NRRP.
